detroit tigers History

The Major League Baseball club Detroit Tigers play in the American League's Central Division and are based out of Detroit, Michigan. The team is one of the eight charter franchises of the American League and was established in 1894 in Detroit to play in the Western League.

In 1896, the Tigers began playing at Bennet Park, which was located at Trumbull Avenue and Michigan Avenue. The team moved in 1912 to Naivn field at the same location. In 1938 the stadium was expanded and called Briggs Stadium and then in 1961 renamed Tiger Stadium. In 2000 the Tigers moved to Comerica Park. The Tigers won the World Series in 1984, 1968, 1945 and 1935. They have also won 10 American League pennants.

In 1984, the Tigers set a franchise record with 104 wins and won their division by 15 games.
