The Major League Baseball club Toronto Blue Jays play in the American League's Eastern Division and are based out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Their nickname derives from the bird with the same name, and they are also often referred to as “the Jays.”

The Blue Jays were found in 1977 in Toronto as an expansion franchise. The team originally played their games at Exhibition Stadium and then moved to the Sky Dome in 1989. Rogers Communications has owned the Blue Jays since 2000 and renamed Sky Dome to Rogers Centre after purchasing Sky Dome in 2004.

Toronto is only the second Major League Baseball club based outside the U.S and are the first and only team to date from outside the U.S. to make and appearance and win the World series. They won a World Series in the franchise's 16th year in the American League, to set the record for quickest to win by an AL franchise team. Following the 2004 season, the Montreal Expos moved to Washington, D.C to become the Washington Nationals, leaving the Blue Jays as the only Major League Baseball team based outside the U.S.

In 1992, the Blue Jays won the AL East division for the second time in a row. They defeated the Oakland Athletics in the ALCS in six games, advancing them to the World Series where they squared off against the Atlanta Braves. They defeated the Braves in six games to become the first non U.S. team to win a World Series. The Blues Jays 1993 team featured seven All Stars. They won their third consecutive division title and won their second World Series title in a row by defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in six games.
